Exam time!
17 Feb 2010
A belated happy new year to you all. I hope that you all had a pleasant Xmas and New Year, although I'm sure that will seem a very distant memory at this point. In the six weeks that has elapsed since then the LPC and the lives of everyone on it has been crazy!
“I'm not claiming that life is easy on the LPC but it's a hell of a lot easier with friends like these.”
Fortunately, those six weeks began nicely enough. Upon my return to London the second wave of snow engulfed the city and we all received most of our first week off! The following week, a couple of friends and I decided that it would be nice to hold a simple enough curry night. As is the A&O way, a couple turned into over twenty (all with only three days notice) and everyone seemed to have a grand time! We hope to hold a second curry night in three weeks time and are expecting almost double that number.
However, the LPC is never as simple as that. Our one week off meant that lectures were added to our already full schedules for the rest of the month and this blog post finds me in the middle of seven exams within a two and a half week period. To say that black humour is in operation would be fair. Friends of mine have joked to me that they are wondering how many paper cuts it would take to bleed to death (I reached three and then it just hurt too much)!
Nevertheless, through much pain (those papercuts are really starting to hurt now) we again have worked together and are getting through it. Since the content is so great, a friend and I founded a revision consolidation group to share our revision documents and files we've built up over the year to date. That group now covers over half of all the A&O year group and seems to grow every day. Having access to the notes of over 60 members makes working for exams a lot easier and is probably something you would find in no other group. I'm not claiming that life is easy on the LPC but it's a hell of a lot easier with friends like these.
After all the talk of exams and stress I wanted to leave you with some good news. Many of you will remember my post where I introduced you to 'The Phantom of the Opera', who was directing the A&O opera (news I brought to you even before RoF). I am pleased to say that the A&O production of 'The Magic Flute' was held at Glyndebourne in front of an audience of over 1200 ticketholders on Saturday 13 February and was very well received. My congratulations to all who took part. You did an amazing job.
Finally, to all those with exams coming up soon my best wishes to you all. We're all in the same boat together.
