When I received an email over the summer, from a member of the graduate recruitment team, which started “Hi Imran. I’ve left a couple of voice messages but as I haven’t heard back from you, I assume you must be on holiday…” I have to say I immediately feared the worst. Thoughts about ‘maybe they don’t want me anymore’ and ‘maybe they’ve worked out I’m really a slacker’ were the first things that came to my mind. Fortunately, the email was an invitation to join the recruitment website as the LPC blogger. As you can imagine, I accepted without any hesitation!

Let me begin by introducing myself. (This is going to sound like a dodgy dating website profile but here goes.) Hi, my name is Imran. I studied law at City University, in London, and before that I went to school in Watford. I enjoy going out, eating lots of different types of food (and I mean lots), travelling, watching great modern films and playing golf (when I get the time).
My first experience of the firm was a one-week work experience placement after my first year at university, which the firm set up to broaden access to students from less well established London universities. From walking in on my first day I was hooked. I was back the following year for a three-week Summer Vacation Scheme after which I was sent to work for a week in the Dubai office! As you can imagine there was only one place I wanted to sign for a training contract and when I got the call on 1st September 2008, I was ecstatic but in shock (hence why I’m terrified every time the firm calls or emails!).
So here I am as an LPC student with a training contract at A&O, like a kid in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a golden ticket, and this is my first blog. Over the next year, I will try to give you a peek into what life is like as a student on the LPC, both work and (in my case) mainly otherwise.
